Entourage Shmentourage

So it's Sunday night and I'm at home with a box of pizza watching HBO, which I discovered (to my delight), had a pretty brilliant line-up for the night - Constantine, Entourage, and Jerry Maguire. Keanu Reeves playing a dark, brooding, demon-bashing, soul-saving superhero of sorts? Not bad, not bad at all. Tom Cruise making a fool out of himself as someone else (before the horrendous jumping-on-the-couch, fist-pumping deal on Oprah) and the cute little kid with glasses? Will most definitely bring a smile to my face. Two movies I'd like to see on a lazy Sunday evening before another week at work.

But what I was really looking forward to was Entourage, this HBO series that was going to be aired for the first time in Asia. HBO had been advertising it like crazy for weeks and weeks and the show did seem interesting, so at 9 pm I settled myself comfortably in front of the television. As the credits for Constantine ended and Entourage was about to begin, HBO suddenly got cut off, the screen turned blue, and this came on:

Advisory
The content of this program
is of questionable nature
and has not been cleared
by the proper authority.

It looked like those "Warning" messages that scrolled down at the beginning when you played a VHS tape. I call up the cable company to find out what was going on, although I pretty much knew already.

So the word from the cable company is, there had been some sort of a mix-up between HBO and MTRCB, and Entourage hadn't been cleared to air in the Philippines. Apparently, it won't be airing in the Philippines anytime soon, if not ever. Total bummer. The thing is, I wouldn't have been as annoyed if, when they were airing all those ads for the series, they'd have put something like "Not available in all territories" at the bottom, like they used to with Sex and the City.

And rather than discourage me from watching the series, this incident has actually made me more interested to watch it - and I'm sure I'm not the only one. And who, I wonder, would benefit from this interest that they have so cleverly - albeit unconsciously I'm sure - aroused? Why, none other than our rather "entrepreneurial" brothers and sisters with their rickety, ready-to-go display racks of you-know-what. Orlando Bloom and Johnny Depp in real life, on land, in modern times, and less handsome.

Anyway...

Last night I dreamt that I was watching The Killers live in concert. Brandon Flowers was handsome and adorable and amazing.

Yesterday I watched The Break Up with Edell at The Podium. I liked its unconventional ending. And I am insanely jealous of Jennifer Aniston's body.

Who knows a yoga instructor in the Makati area?
