Tweeting Away

For the Love of Books, for the Love of Twilight!

It began this April, mainly because of three things: (1) I knew a little bit of Photoshop; (2) I liked to blog; and (3) to my surprise, I was becoming extremely and undeniably, need-to-check-the-internet-every-hour-for-updates, sworn-off-human-boys-for-other-creatures, obsessed with one single fictional character, the literary gods' gift to girls of the 21st century - Edward Cullen.

So I put up a blog, a forum and a Multiply site in the hopes of finding like-minded (and equally unbalanced) individuals, with whom I could share the craziness that has been Twilight.

Who would've thought that after just a few months, me and the three other girls who began Twilight Coven Philippines would've already been interviewed for a local newspaper, would've already held a book discussion, and most recently, what could be the craziest event I have ever participated in in my entire life - the Breaking Dawn pre-launch party!

The party was just pure, wholesome, girly fun. It was so cool to see a bunch of girls and their girlfriends - and by "girlfriends", I mean classmates, sisters, and moms, all at the same time! - hanging out on a Saturday afternoon at a bookstore, in giddy anticipation of a book. In a time of iPods and Facebook and SMS and YM and Paris Hilton and Lindsay Lohan, it turns out that, amidst all of these hooplah, girls still enjoyed the simple pleasure of curling up with a good book...and I guess the screaming and hysteria that came with its pre-launch. Seriously - I knew they'd be giddy, and that they'd blush and gush at the sight - or even just the mention! - of Edward. But they screamed their lungs out, over and over again, and it was soooo much fun! I would've reacted exactly the same way had I been 13 years old and at a Hanson concert (oh my goodness - I could sense the generation gap!). Kamiseta's right - it's fun being a girl. Being a girl who, along with a zillion other girls, is infatuated with one Edward Cullen. Or maybe Jacob Black. Or maybe even James the Vampire Nomad.
Seriously though, to all those who attended, thanks so much, we hope you had as much fun as we did! And to the Twilight Coven girls, Mabelle, Meann, and Sheila - congrats to us! Can you believe it? We actually did it. Also to our friends who were sooo game to help us with the event - Rissee, Sam, Irish, Jam, and Echo - you guys rock! Thanks a bunch. We hope you had a biting good time. Until next time! :)
